Hello! We are Kelly and Christian, creators of Crossroads to Campfires. We created this project to showcase our writing and photography skills while exploring the great outdoors, writing compelling stories, and capturing the beauty of inspiring places.
Our goal is to bring together a community of people who value our protected outdoor spaces and focus on keeping them protected and clean. The best way to do this is through action. We sponsor and participate in events in our community (Eugene, Oregon) that help keep our outdoor spaces pristine for all to enjoy. We hope to foster an online community of passionate, like-minded people; we want to create a space for brainstorming, discussion and constructive criticism.
Our long-term goal is to develop a program that works to make the outdoors accessible to all children. Nature is our biggest classroom. And the children that are in school now need to be passionate about the environment. Nature is inaccessible to an enormous amount of children in our country due to expensive fees to use facilities, no transportation to more remote areas, lack of time and lack of knowledge about what activities and parks are within reach. We would like to implement an outreach program to spread information about outdoor activities and events so that more children, and people, have the chance to participate.
